Summer 2022 Virtual & In-Person Career Skills and Resource Lab Workshops

21st Century Skills are career readiness and workplace success skills necessary to gain and maintain employment, as well as advance in a career. These skills include knowledge, work habits, and character traits that employers are looking for and find value in the workplace.

How do I develop 21st Century Skills? Each month, NOCE will host a series of workshops focused on 21st-century career readiness and workplace success skills.

21st-century workshop topic for the month of June: Social Diversity Awareness

 

Workshops will be held virtually through Zoom and in-person in the Career Skills and Resource Lab located at the Anaheim Campus, Room 606 (6th floor). Students who register for the virtual workshops will receive an email with Zoom meeting details the evening before the workshop.

Thursday, June 9, 2022	5 p.m. – 6 p.m.	Introduction to the Career Resource Lab (In-Person) Learn about services and resources to help you in your current classes and prepare you for the workplace.
Tuesday, June 14, 2022	5 p.m. – 6 p.m.	Turn Your Interests Into a Career (In-Person) Take a short assessment to learn about careers that match your interests and explore careers within a pathway.
Wednesday, June 15, 2022	5 p.m. – 6 p.m.	Resume Building Basics (In-Person) Learn how to build a resume, what the difference is between a summary and an objective, and chronological and functional resume format.
Tuesday, June 21, 2022	5 p.m. – 6 p.m.	Social Diversity Awareness (In-Person) Learn the benefits of embracing acceptance in the workplace.
Thursday, June 23, 2022	5 p.m. – 6 p.m.	Cover Letter Basics (In-Person) Learn what a cover letter is and get tips and tools for writing a professional cover letter.
Tuesday, June 28, 2022	5 p.m. – 6 p.m.	Stress Management and Self-Care (In-Person) Learn how to manage stress with self-care techniques.
Wednesday, June 29, 2022	5 p.m. – 6 p.m.	How to Fill Out a Job Application (In-Person) Learn how to successfully complete an online job application.
Thursday, June 30, 2022	5 p.m. – 6 p.m.	Rock Your Interview (In-Person) Learn what to expect, how to prepare, and what the interviewer expects from you in a job interview.

These workshops are designed to give students an opportunity to develop professional relationships, acquire new ideas, improve skills, as well as provide current and relevant job market information to those looking for employment.

Zoom and Canvas Assistance is Available Throughout the Summer Session

Zoom Conference is a cloud-based video conferencing platform that can be used for video conferencing meetings, webinars, audio conferencing, etc.

Canvas is a Learning Management System. This system allows students to access online courses, submit assignments, participate in discussions, view grades, and course materials.
